1. How Rewynd handles audio
- While in a voice channel, Rewynd keeps only a short rolling buffer in memory (a configurable number of seconds).
- This buffer is never written to disk, is continuously overwritten, and is discarded when Rewynd leaves the channel, stops, or restarts.
- We never passively save what people say. Running
/clipsends the file to your Discord channel, and we keep no copy. - The one exception is audio someone deliberately saves to the soundboard (an upload, or a clip you choose to keep). Those files ARE stored on our servers (per server), encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, and persist until deleted (see §5 and §6).
- Rewynd collects no audio from anyone who does not speak while it is present.
2. Data we collect
- Soundboard sounds you upload or save, stored per server.
- Sound attribution: the user ID that uploaded a sound, and, for a clip saved to the soundboard, the user IDs whose voices are in it (so any of them can delete it).
- Transcripts: if you transcribe a saved sound, the resulting text is cached with that sound and deleted along with it.
- Usage stats: per-sound and per-user play counts, plus a rolling ~30-day log of play events.
- Entrance-sound assignments (a Discord user ID → sound name, per server).
- Server settings and plan/entitlement status.
- Discord server, channel, and user IDs needed to operate.
3. Data we do NOT collect / how we share
- Real names, addresses, emails, or payment details (subscriptions are handled by Discord, so we never see your card).
- Any data about people who don't speak, use a command, or interact with Rewynd.
- We never sell your data. We don't share it with third parties except the limited service providers needed for optional features.
- Transcription: when you use
/transcribeor the Transcribe button, the audio you choose is sent to our speech-to-text provider (currently Groq) to generate text. We only send audio when you explicitly trigger transcription; nothing else leaves Rewynd.
4. Consent & notice
Recording voice may be regulated by law in your area. Server admins and users are responsible for obtaining any required consent. Rewynd makes recording visible with a notice and a [REC] nickname indicator while a buffer is active.
5. Retention
The in-memory buffer is never persisted. Soundboard sounds, stats, and entrance assignments are kept until deleted by an admin, the user, or until the server removes Rewynd. Play-event logs older than ~30 days are pruned automatically.
6. Your rights & data deletion
/privacysummarizes this policy in Discord./deletemydataremoves your personal data (entrance sound, play-stat attribution, and your upload/voice attribution on saved sounds)./deletedatalets admins erase all of a server's stored data.
7. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect stored data, but no internet-connected system is perfectly secure. Use Rewynd at your own risk.
